After graduating from Otago, Ed began his career as a house surgeon at Dunedin Public Hospital, followed by five years in private general practice in London. He developed a group practice, with a multi disciplinary approach to dentistry in downtown Auckland City.
He has an extensive track record of active participation in the profession and holds various New Zealand and international society affiliations. He was the founder, President and Life member of the NZ Society of Endodontics as well as a founding member of of the NZ Society of Implant Dentistry (1987).
In addition, he is an executive member of the NZ Dental Association (1989 - 1993) becoming Chairman of the Economic & Practice Management Committee. From 1994 - 1995, he was the President of the Auckland Dental Asssociation (ADA).
He was the co-founder and President of the New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry from 2004 - 2009. From 2002 - 2009 he was a member of the NZ Dental Council. Ed also sits on the Advisory Board to the Graduated School of Business, University of Auckland.
Ed was recently awarded by the International College of Dentists to certify in recognition to conspicuous services rendered in the Art and Science of Dentistry. Title obtained: FICD.
